Preparing for Your Appointment
Deciding to talk to someone about your substance use or the substance use of someone you care about can be difficult. Preparing for your appointment can be helpful but it is not required. You are already an expert in your experience so please attend your session with as much or as little prior work or thought as you’d like.
Here are some examples of what you can do before your time with us if you choose:
- Please be prepared to be candid about your substance use. Your truth is safe with us.
- List all of your medications, supplements, etc.
- Think of the questions that weigh on your mind. We are here to answer them.
- Bring a friend or family member if it helps you feel more comfortable.

You do not need to be a part of any existing treatment plans or connections to experience a positive benefit from addiction counselling. Our therapist may choose to provide education regarding additional avenues, but it is not required before starting.
