Sheena Howard
With over two decades of enriching, joyful, and oftentimes unbelievably funny experiences, my journey has been marked by an unwavering passion for supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate the path toward well-being and connection. I find immense fulfillment in supporting the journeys of those folks grappling with challenges such as anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and burnout.
From a young age, the values of kindness and support were embedded in me. These foundational principles fueled my decision to step into the world of healthcare, where human connection is essential. However, my journey in this field unveiled a system that often placed efficiency above the genuine, heartfelt connection that forms the cornerstone of healing. This revelation was a pivotal moment for me, leading to the realization of my identity as a love-led leader. My belief is firm — love should be at the forefront of healthcare.
My professional journey and personal experiences have given me a unique perspective and diverse tools to foster growth and resilience. Whether you find yourself at the crossroads of identity exploration, transitioning through the various phases of life, or pursuing a deeper sense of belonging, I am here, ready to walk alongside you, guiding your path toward self-discovery and healing.
My areas of specialization include ADHD, Anxiety, Couples and Marriage Counselling, Family Counselling, LGBTQ+ Identity Exploration and Affirmation, Navigating Life Transitions, Burnout Prevention and Recovery, and Fostering Genuine Connections and Relationships. Each of these areas is close to my heart and resonates with the essence of my practice. I work with youth and adults, couples and families.
About Sheena
At the core of my practice are the values of inclusivity, intersectionality, and a trauma-informed approach. I honor and celebrate the uniqueness of each individual, fostering a sanctuary of safety, exploration, and growth. I’m registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and was registered with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BSCNM) when I lived in Haida Gwai, BC. I am unwaveringly dedicated to ongoing learning and professional development, ensuring that my practice remains informed, relevant, and deeply attuned to the needs of those I serve.
I maintain balance in my life through my daily yoga and meditation practice, running and cycling, and sharing a good laugh with my boys, my friends, and my sister! My cheeks often hurt because I do so much smiling.
Outside my professional roles, I cherish connecting with my wife of 20 years, co-parenting our boys (17 & 13), reading, word searches, leading yoga classes, and indulging in my lifelong love of learning.
In my sessions, you will find a warm and inclusive environment where the language of care and connection is spoken fluently, and humor is welcomed and encouraged. My approach is person-centered and rooted in love and empathy, focusing on helping you uncover and embrace your authentic self.
While my practice is currently full, I am delighted to be able to refer to you any one of Acceptance’s Nurse Psychotherapists!
